Grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity benefits Youth at Orchard Place
Better Sleep leads to Better Mental Health
Sleep matters, especially for youth with mental health concerns.
“On average, youth need anywhere from 8 to 12 hours of sleep,” said Orchard Place Mental Health Therapist Isabella North, tLMHC, CADC. “Without adequate sleep, ability to problem solve, focus, learn in school, and manage emotions can be significantly lessened.”
Orchard Place Campus is home to a highly regarded around the clock intensive mental health treatment program for youth ages 10 to 17. Youth receive multidisciplinary care, attend our Campus School, and benefit from many recreational and therapeutic activities. They live on Campus for an average of six months until they’re healthy enough to return to their homes and communities. This past year, 98% of youth successfully discharged to a lower level of care.
Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa provided a generous grant to support our Campus Furniture Campaign to help us make each bedroom on Campus a safe, cozy space for a child to get a good night’s sleep that is essential to their healing.
