DES MOINES, IA – Orchard Place sends gratitude to our community, sponsors, volunteers, and all riders who made an impact at the 13th Moonlight Classic charity bike ride on Saturday, July 13th in downtown Des Moines.

Cyclists of all ages and skill levels made a 10-mile journey throughout the city to raise awareness for children’s mental health. “The extreme heat did not stop 240 bike riders,” said Brandie Broadhead, Director of Volunteers and Special Events at Orchard Place. “We had 48 volunteers along the route this year, wish is the most we have ever needed!”

Orchard Place is one of Iowa’s largest safety net providers where we care for youth regardless of their family’s ability to pay for services. The funds raised from the Moonlight Classic are essential to closing the funding gaps for children’s mental health and educational programs at Orchard Place such as assist families struggling to cover basic needs like rent, food, and clothing, as well as hiring certified teachers, and funding trainings and initiatives.

Thank you to our generous donors and to all who made this year's Moonlight Classic a success and for pedaling towards a brighter future for our youth. Together, we can Develop Strong Futures!

Make sure to mark your calendar and save the date for next year’s Moonlight Classic on Saturday, July 12th, 2025!
