Variety – the Children’s Charity Impacts Youth Mental Health through Grant
“At Orchard Place, we understand that anxiety, depression, history of trauma, being away from home, and other worries may keep kids up at night,” said Anne Starr, CEO of Orchard Place.
Yet, a good night’s sleep is essential to healing. “Without adequate sleep, ability to problem solve, focus, learn in school, and manage emotions can be significantly lessened,” said Isabella North, tLMHC, CADC, who provides mental health therapy for youth in the intensive residential treatment program at Orchard Place Campus. “On average, youth need anywhere from 8-12 hours of sleep.”
“Thank you to Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa for your generous grant to support our Campus Furniture Campaign,” said Starr. “This funding will help us make each bedroom on Campus a safe, cozy space for a child in treatment to rest, read, and recharge.”
