Marian and her parents recount Marian’s time at Orchard Place and the challenges they faced on the road to recovery from Marian’s depression, self-harming behaviors and destructive lifestyle as a teenager.
Raised a healthy and productive child in a loving family, Marian had severe separation anxiety as a young child. Her depression and unfulfilled search for happiness eventually led her to substance abuse, hanging out with criminals, abusive relationships, and several suicide attempts. And, she despised her parents for trying to ‘fix ‘her, believing they were only prolonging the suffering she had tried so hard to mask. Eventually, she found her way to Orchard Place, learned to love herself again, reconnect with her family, and move on to a healthy, promising future.
Marian shares her story of recovery here hoping to help other teens who are struggling realize there’s hope for them too, and that Orchard Place can help.
