Investing in Accessibility

For more than 30 years, Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa has been a generous partner in helping Orchard Place provide a safe and supportive environment for children and their families. Their latest gift of $30,000 will provide vital upgrades to the Child Guidance Center elevator.

“Variety is proud to support Orchard Place and their commitment to providing vital mental health services for children across Iowa,” shared Wendy Ingham, Executive Director of Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa. “This new elevator will ensure that children, families, staff, and volunteers have improved accessibility – removing mobility barriers so everyone can access the care and support they need.”

Christina Rodriguez, a Lead School-Based Therapist at CGC, said that a reliable elevator is imperative to the ability of Orchard Place staff to provide equitable access to services. “We have youth and adults that cannot use the stairs safely or caregivers with very young children that need assistance in getting everyone up and down the building.” Knowing the importance of this gift, Rodriguez continued with, “We appreciate all the help in updating and maintaining our elevator here at the Child Guidance Center.”

Variety – the Children’s Charity recognizes how essential it is for children and families to have a welcoming and accessible space to succeed in treatment. Thank you, Variety, for helping Orchard Place remain a trusted place to Develop Strong Futures.
