Philosophy of Care
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Orchard Place started as the city’s first orphanage in 1886 and has grown into one of Iowa’s oldest non-profits. Today, we offer more than 30 programs through three branches: the Child Guidance Center, PACE Center, and Residential Campus. We help improve the well-being of children, teens, and families by addressing their mental health, substance use, behavioral support, and educational needs. Orchard Place is certified by The Sanctuary Institute and is dedicated to creating a trauma-sensitive environment for the children and families we serve, as well as for our staff. We provide care that understands the different kinds of trauma people may experience and work to prevent further harm.

OUR COMMITMENTS TO OUR CLIENTS:
We will provide treatment that is safe, confidential, and ethical.
We will continuously strive to provide positive outcomes.
We will provide collaborative and individualized care – with an ongoing belief that each individual is the expert of their own life.
We will continuously work to create an equitable and inclusive environment for children and families.
Orchard Place creates an organization where every voice is valued, where the staff have a sense of belonging and connection with one another and to the organization and feel empowered to do their best work without differential treatment. Orchard Place’s priority is to prevent harm to employees, client families and to the community.
